COMMUNITY HEALTH

Providing accessible and quality health services to the entire population cannot be achieved without the establishment of community health centers in urban centers and the most marginalized areas. CHFESDI wants to work with the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) and International Partners to strengthen existing health services within communities, including elder care and long-term care services, community mental health and addiction services, and health promotion.

As part of its mission, CHFESDI aims to help the Haitian population, including the most remote rural communities, stay healthy. The organization will work in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality healthcare to the population, for generations to come. Providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the entire population cannot be achieved without the establishment of community health centers, throughout urban areas and in the most marginalized locations. These Community Health Centers advocated by CHFESDI play a crucial role in building an effective healthcare system that serves the population, through strong coordination with hospitals. CHFESDI will collaborate with the MSPP and international partners to establish community support services, including elder care, long-term care services, and community mental health and addiction services.

The services provided by a Community Health Center (CSC) are of utmost importance in improving the health of a population. CHFESDI intends to use the CSCs that will be established to offer primary health programs and health promotion to Haitians, their families, and rural communities.

By establishing Community Health Centers within Haiti’s healthcare system, CHFESDI emphasizes the philosophy that an effective healthcare system is not solely about treating people when they are sick, but about focusing more on the overall well-being of the population. This philosophy will guide CHFESDI's actions in implementing holistic and practical initiatives. Specifically:

Ensuring primary healthcare services.

Ensuring healthcare equity by reducing current health disparities between populations facing social health determinants and those who can afford healthcare, so that all individuals can fully realize their health potential. Healthcare services in the Community Health Centers will be provided to minority groups, low-income individuals, vulnerable people with specific needs, marginalized individuals, etc. Our services will focus on impartiality and non-discrimination in primary healthcare.

Informing and educating.

The CSCs will play a role as promoters and educators in matters of health and quality of life for the population. Integrated programs will be developed that address all aspects of life: health, the environment, family life, child development, and activities for the elderly, all under one roof (Hubs). We will also organize various education and information programs for the community on issues affecting stability and even community cohesion. Topics will include healthy eating, prevention and treatment of domestic violence, addiction, conflict resolution, anger management, stress management, self-esteem improvement, and the prevention and management of chronic diseases.
