OUR AREAS OF INTERVENTION

CHFESDI
HAITIAN CENTER FOR TRAINING, SOCIAL ECONOMY AND INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT
-
Training for Farmers
-
The development of programs.
-
The creation of small projects.
It will intervene in the following sectors:

-
Animal production and fishing: broiler chickens, eggs, meat, milk.
-
Cereal production: rice, corn, millet, and sorghum.
-
Forestry production: timber, fruit trees.
AgroCom will effectively address the issue of food self-sufficiency, improve the human capital stock in the rural sector, and, by extension, normalize urban-rural relations in Haiti. It will focus on the fight against poverty, making a tangible contribution to the country's sustainable development process.
AgroCom (Community Agriculture)
The national Community Agriculture Project (AgroCom) will take the form of a community economic development project in rural Haiti. It will be based on a regional economic development system tailored to the real needs of the Haitian population. On one hand, AgroCom will lead to the recovery of productivity in the agricultural sector by strengthening the strategic planning and production capacities of the target communities.

On the other hand, the project will contribute to boosting commercial exchanges, focusing on better logistical management and the development of an optimized distribution network for agricultural products. Additionally, AgroCom will be structured around the following three key areas:

National Integrated Reforestation Program
The National Integrated Reforestation Program will implement, on a national scale, the reforestation of Haiti’s territory. Following the integrated approach, it will combine tree planting with SALT (Sloping Agricultural Land Technology), an ecological farming practice applied on the slopes of hills to protect farmers' lands, along with the promotion of "Jaden Pre-Kay," offering effective technical solutions to improve the production levels and income of farmers.

At its core, this program will be structured into a series of modules, organized based on the specific characteristics, factor endowments, and the needs of each intervention zone. An agreement will be established between the various stakeholders, including the coordination centers, donors, participating NGOs (in certain cases), volunteers, and farmers. This agreement will determine the actions to be taken, the timelines, resource management, as well as the criteria and evaluation methods to assess results and management, thereby ensuring accountability and transparency throughout the process.

In the initial phase, the modules will be implemented in three departments. The first phase will focus on awareness-raising activities, organization, and training for stakeholders. The identification of target communities, the assessment of needs and constraints, the development of implementation strategies, and the planning of operations will be addressed in the second phase. Then, planting activities and other complementary tasks will begin in the third phase. A systematic evaluation of the program will take place in the fourth phase. The results and lessons learned will guide the direction of the modules, which will subsequently be deployed across the remaining nine departments.

This reception center will be inclusive, open to all French-speaking immigrants, regardless of their geographical and cultural background, without discrimination based on race, religion, or political affiliation. New arrivals will be welcomed in French at their first point of contact and will be appropriately directed to Francophone organizations and institutions offering services in French. This reception center will ensure that the City of London becomes a hub for French-speaking immigrants. They will be psychologically prepared to better face cultural shocks and adapt to Canadian life realities.
Network of Training Centers and
Support for Haitian Women from Disadvantaged Regions

The empowerment of Haitian women from disadvantaged regions is a crucial issue for the economic and social development of the country. CHFESDI aims to implement several initiatives that can strengthen the capacities and empower these women, offering them better opportunities, including projects that ensure the economic empowerment of women in Haiti. These projects include management training for women entrepreneurs, market studies to identify sectors with high economic potential, and policy recommendations to promote economic empowerment. The Center has already established a High Fashion and Pastry Institute that has graduated two cohorts in Port-au-Prince. Despite the security situation, the Center will continue to strengthen the empowerment of women with similar training programs in other regions of Haiti.

In partnership with other local organizations, CHFESDI ensures that the empowerment of women is key to integrated and sustainable development in Haiti. Despite existing obstacles, such as limited access to resources and essential services, discriminatory social norms, and the low participation of women in decision-making bodies, CHFESDI continues to advocate for their socio-economic integration.
Our efforts contribute to improving the situation of Haitian women and enabling them to fully contribute to the development of Haiti.

Furthermore, CHFESDI's action plan regarding women focuses on the following areas of intervention.

-
Financial and Material Support:
-
Secure funding from international organizations to support women in the implementation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). CHFESDI will submit grant applications to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Global Affairs Canada, the European Union Organizations, to name just a few.
-
Conduct international fundraising campaigns to support and implement projects and initiatives created for and managed by women.
-
-
Training and Education:
-
Organize workshops to train women in professional skills, business management, literacy, environmental protection, as well as short-term technical and professional training in various fields.
-
Support young girls' education by sponsoring scholarships or providing school supplies.
-
Provide the necessary equipment and resources for economic activities, such as agricultural tools, sewing machines, or school supplies.
-

-
Advocacy and Awareness:
-
Raise awareness among men and women at the national and international political levels about the challenges faced by Haitian women and girls and the existing initiatives to support them.
-
Advocate for public policies that promote the empowerment of women and gender equality.
-

-
Volunteering:

Three Key Initiatives CHFESDI Plans to Implement Over the Next Three Years to Support Haitian Women and Girls (Especially in the Central and Northern Departments of Haiti):
-
Strengthening Organizational Capacities for the Economic Empowerment of Women:

CHFESDI will submit a grant application to the UNDP to implement a training program aimed at improving the managerial skills of at least 500 women and young women entrepreneurs in the Central Department, and 500 women and young women entrepreneurs in the Northern Department. This training will include SME management, strategic business and organizational management, the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit organizations, cooperative management, inventory management, marketing, financial management, and basic accounting principles, as well as market studies to identify high-potential economic sectors.

-
Promoting Gender Equality 2025-2028:
CHFESDI will undertake initiatives focused on the social inclusion of women, their economic and financial empowerment, and their resilience to gender inequalities and the lack of equity they face. CHFESDI will work to strengthen women's representation in decision-making spheres and promote a conducive environment for gender equality.
-
Strengthening the Resilience and Economic Autonomy of Marginalized Women:

The Center will support the improvement of economic autonomy for women in the agricultural sector by providing them with resources and training to increase their production capacity. Grant applications will be submitted to the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID) for this purpose.

In short, CHFESDI's support for Haitian women and girls aims to create a network that supports them in various areas, including political participation, leadership, entrepreneurship, social integration, and economic development. Through this support network within CHFESDI, women and girls will be able to increase their visibility in decision-making spaces and fight against the various forms of violence and exclusion they face. CHFESDI strongly encourages women to engage in political life and participate in elections to change the political landscape in Haiti, where corruption remains a common denominator.
Over the next few years, CHFESDI will take action to promote the social integration and participation of women in underrepresented sectors. You are invited to read the following articles, which explain how the impact of women's participation in all sectors of political and entrepreneurial life can be measured:
